Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) is responsible for maintaining and developing the Trunk and Regional Roads Network across Tanzania Mainland. It also conducts Axle Load Control Operations using weighbridge scales. TANROADS is looking for qualified Tanzanians to fill positions for several projects funded by the World Bank:

Available Positions:

  1. Resident Engineer – 3 Posts (Kibondo-Mabamba Road Project, Kibondo-Townlink, and Malagarasi Span Lower Bridge)

Entry Requirements:

  • Tanzanian Citizen with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from a recognized university.
  • Must be registered as a Professional Engineer with a current license from the Engineering Registration Board (ERB).
  • postgraduate qualification in Bridge/Structural Engineering is a plus.
  • 7 years of experience in related sectors, including bridge or building construction under supervision.
  • Must have overseen 3 similar projects in the last 7 years.
  • Fluent in English and Swahili, both spoken and written.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with creating maps, sketches, and work reports.
  • Help review survey data, including measurements and calculations.
  • Record survey details such as land dimensions, elevation, and shape.
  • Support decisions regarding camera parameters for aerial photography.
  • Perform other tasks assigned by the Supervisor.

  1. Structures/Bridge Engineer – 1 Post

Entry Requirements:

  • Tanzanian Citizen with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or similar from a reputable university.
  • Professional Engineer registration with ERB and a current license.
  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering is an advantage.
  • 10 years of experience in road and bridge design, contract administration, and management under FIDIC conditions.
  • Must have worked on at least 3 road construction projects in the past 10 years.
  • Proficiency in both spoken and written English.

Responsibilities:

  • Review structural drawings and reports to ensure they meet relevant standards.
  • Check and approve building supplies to ensure they meet technical requirements.
  • Keep daily records including work diaries, reports, and correspondence on drainage work.

  1. Assistant Land Surveyor – 1 Post (Bridge Project)

Entry Requirements:

  • Tanzanian Citizen with a Diploma in Land Surveying or similar from a recognized institution.
  • At least 5 years of experience in related fields.

Responsibilities:

  • Review survey data for accuracy, including calculations and measurements.
  • Mark benchmarks and boundaries to enable project construction.
  • Conduct property surveys to define legal property boundaries.

  1. Materials Technician – 1 Post (Bridge Project)

Entry Requirements:

  • Tanzanian Citizen with a Full Technician Certificate (FTC) or Diploma in Civil Engineering or similar.
  • 2 years of experience in a materials laboratory.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee site crew and handle administrative tasks on-site.
  • Manage quality control, preparing daily reports and updating drainage costs.
  • Approve completed drainage works for payment.

  1. Topographical Surveyor – 1 Post (Bridge Project)

Entry Requirements:

  • Tanzanian Citizen with a Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma in Land Surveying, Geomatics, or related fields.
  • Registered as a professional Land Surveyor with NCPS.
  • Postgraduate qualifications in surveying are an advantage.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform institution testing and track test results.
  • Prepare materials testing reports and maintain project records.

  1. CAD Technician – 1 Post (Bridge Project)

Entry Requirements:

  • Tanzanian Citizen with a Diploma in Land Surveying, Highway Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related fields.
  • At least 5 years of experience in related industries.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparing sketches and designs for road and bridge projects.
  • Maintain site office records and communication reports.

  1. Works Inspector – Drainage/Structure – 1 Post

Entry Requirements:

  • Tanzanian Citizen with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or similar.
  • Registered with ERB as a Graduate Engineer with at least 3 years of experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise laboratory tests and apply relevant standards.
  • Ensure that the project follows proper QA/QC processes.

  1. Materials Engineer – 1 Post (Bridge Project)

Entry Requirements:

  • Tanzanian Citizen with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or similar.
  • Must be registered with ERB as a Professional Engineer.
  • Master’s degree in geotechnical/pavement engineering is an advantage.

Responsibilities:

  • Review structural drawings and reports for compliance with guidelines.
  • Prepare daily reports on drainage repairs and cost estimates.

  1. Works Inspector – Road Works – 2 Posts (1 for Kibondo Town-Link and 1 for Bridge Project)

Entry Requirements:

  • Tanzanian Citizen with a degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
  • Registered with ERB as a Graduate Engineer with at least 3 years of experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Review road projects for technical compliance.
  • Ensure the project applies QA/QC processes.

Employment Terms:

  • Salary: TANROADS Incentive Policy scale, including various site allowances.
  • Contract: Specified Agreement.
